Transitioning to Lean-Agile practices for building technology-based capabilities is especially challenging in the government context. But issues of legacy governance, contracting, and organizational barriers can be overcome with the right information and strategies. During this twoday course, attendees will learn the principles and practices of the Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®), how to execute and release value through Agile Release Trains, and what it means to lead a Lean-Agile transformation of a program inside a government agency.

During this twoday course, attendees will learn the principles and practices of the Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®), how to execute and release value through Agile Release Trains, and what it means to lead a Lean-Agile transformation of a program inside a government agency.

Attendees will gain an understanding of the Lean-Agile mindset and why it’s an essential foundation for transformation. They’ll also get practical advice on building high performing, multivendor Agile teams and programs, managing technology investments in Lean flow, acquiring solutions with Agile contracting, launching the program, and planning and delivering value using SAFe®. Attendees will also learn how specific leadership behaviors can drive successful organizational change, even in government.

Learning Goals

To perform the role of a SAFe® for Government leader, attendees should be able to:


  • Transition government programs from traditional software and systems development models to Lean-Agile and DevOps mindset, principles, and practices using SAFe®
  • Adapt technology strategy, budgeting and forecasting, acquisition, compliance, and governance processes to flow-based practices using emerging government guidelines
  • Organize government programs into one or more Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and execute in Program Increments (PIs)
  • Explore Large Solution coordination in a government and multi-vendor environment
  • Identify and internalize the mindset and leader behaviors essential to successful Lean-Agile transformation
  • Follow success patterns for SAFe® implementations adapted to the government context
  • Build a preliminary outline of next steps to begin and/or accelerate the SAFe® implementation in your program or agency

All are welcome to attend the course, regardless of experience. However, meeting the following prerequisites will make the training more productive.

  • A foundational understanding of the Agile Manifesto, SAFe® House of Lean, and SAFe Principles is required using pre-work suggestions
  • A foundational understanding the full lifecycle of government technology programs is helpful
  • Registered attendees will receive a list of readings and videos specific to Agile in government that will be beneficial to review before the course

The class registration includes:

  • Attendee workbook
  • One-year membership to the SAFe® Community Platform
  • Course certificate of completion
  • One Certification exam attempt upon General Availability of the course

Certificates expire one year from the date the certification is earned.

  • Certified SAFe Membership ($295/year) -For members who currently hold one or more certifications, and who may benefit from a bundled pricing approach. Renews all certifications except SPC and/or SPCT, provides access to basic and some advanced content and continued access to course learnings and assets.
  • Individual SAFe Membership ($195/year) - For those who don’t seek certification but still benefit from the valuable content on the SAFe Community Platform. No certification renewals included.

In order to provide the most experienced instructors and a superior classroom environment, we must ask you to adhere to our cancellation policy. If it is necessary to cancel or reschedule this registration, please notify us immediately. Our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • 15 or more days prior to class, 100% refund of tuition.
  • 8-15 days prior to class, no refund, but may reschedule another class within one year of the cancellation date.
  • 7 days or less from the course start date, neither refund of tuition nor any rescheduling allowed. No changes are allowed to make.
  • In the event any cancellation occurred due to low enrollment or unforeseen natural events, we will issue a 100% refund.
  • What tools do we utilize during the remote sessions?
    We utilize a combination of Zoom and Miro Board. 
  • Does the enrollment fee include the exam fee?
    The enrollment fee includes the first exam attempt.
  • When can I take the exam?
    You can take the exam within 30 days from the course completion date.
  • When will we restart our On-site sessions?
    Currently, because of the COVID-19 situation all our classes are held online. We will start on-site sessions on August 2nd.

    Yes! The PDUs vary depend on the class you take. Please ask us about the PDU claim code.

  • When do we close the enrollment ?
    1 hour before the starting time of the class.
  • Do I have to be in the same city to take a remote class?
    No! Anyone is welcome to enroll in our live remote training sessions.
  • Why is the timezone in CST?
    Because we are based in Dallas, Texas. Click here to convert to your local time.
  • Can I retake the class if I joined in a remote session?
    Attendees that have enrolled in our remote training sessions are welcome to retake the class on-site. However, the class will run in limited cities.
  • Where can I take the exam?
    You can take the exam online, from anywhere you have an internet access.
